Cava di Melis, Longobucco, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy - The recent new find of cordierite from Italy ! Probably the best and better defined crystals of cordierite vere found in Italy. The well known locality for cordierirte is the Roccatederighi, Grosseto locality but this one is greatly better for the crystalline habit and the size ! This specimen hosts a perfectly terminated prismatic cordierite of 0.8 cm in size with a parallel twinning. The color is green/brown for a coating of pinite. Very nice ! overall size is 3x2.5x2 cm. Weight is 20 gr.
