Sweet Home mine, near Alma, Park County, Colorado - For those who don't know, Richard Kosnar mined the Sweet Home for a few years during the late 1970's and managed to collect some excellent Rhodo specimens. This piece is from one of the last pockets that Rich and his mine foreman Dave Bergman (Brian Kosnar's maternal grandfather) opened before they were done at the mine. These three specimens feature a lovely pink-red color rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite; two of which have a bit of attached matrix. The crystals are sharp and well-formed with great color and translucency for the size I don't have to tell you that these pieces are selling for top dollar across the board. A worthwhile set of specimens of Rhodochrosite from this most classic of localities. Overall sizes 1.5 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm to 0.9 x 0.7 x 0.3 cm

Sweet Home mine, near Alma, Park County, Colorado, USA - The Sweet Home mine is world famous for its Rhodochrosite specimens. This piece features a predominant, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, rich pinkish-red rhombohedron of Rhodochrosite measuring 1.1 cm across that is perched aesthetically on contrasting black Sphalerite matrxi with minor Pyrite. This is an unusual Rhodo from the Sweet Home as they are not often seen on Sphalerite like this. It would make a great addition to any Colorado suite, a Rhodo collection or a suite of thumbnail. This piece is from one of the early pockets that Rich and Dave opened when they started mining in 1977. Overall size is 2x1.5x1.5 cm. Ex Rob Lavinsky coll.

Maynard's Claim,  Thomas Range,  Juab County, Utah, USA - A nice sharp, lustrous clo to 1 cm black Bixbyite crystal sits on rhyolite matrix in this aesthetic Thomas Range piece. A good specimen of this rare species.  Overall size is 6x5.5x2.5 cm

Minerva No. 1 mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA - Colorless spiky crystals of calcite measuring to 2.5 cm in height coming off this matrix. Some of the crystals show cleaving. Overall size is 10.5 x 10.0 x 5.0 cm.

SAN BENITO GEM MINE, SAN BENITO CO., CA, USA - There are various neptunites on this riolite specimen. The largest neptunite is a terminated crystal of 1.5 cm in size. There are others up to 0.5 cm. Overall size is 3x2.2x2 cm

There is a perfectly terminated apatite crystal 1.5 cm long that shows up from the the magnetite crystals. The magnetites are up to 1 cm, all with nice terminations. Showy specimen.

Linwood Mine, Buffalo, Scott Co., Iowa, USA - Glassy gemmy transparent terminated orthorhombic barite crystal set up free and clear from a limestone matrix. Measures 6.5 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm. In perfect condition and complete all-around. Excellent for the species at this locality. Overall size is  6.5 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm

Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA - A very nice golden brown terminated crystal of calcite showing the classic scalenohedral habit. There is with a little sphalerite matrix. The terminations are good, though there is a small cleave to the very tip. Super clarity of the calcite ! Overall size is 7.2 × 5.8 × 3.2 cm. Weight is 135 gr

Cross cut creek, Yukon, Canada - Well defined and terminated augelite crystals show up on this specimen. There are a large amount of perfect augelites up to 0.7 cm in size with a nice transparent light green color. Very showy specimen of 5.5x5.5x3.5 cm
